ACTION ALERT: CHARLOTTE MAYOR AND AT-LARGE COUNCIL WANTS TO EXTEND THEIR OWN TERMS

ACTION ALERT: CHARLOTTE MAYOR AND AT-LARGE COUNCIL WANTS TO EXTEND THEIR OWN TERMS

The Charlotte City Council will be voting on extending terms for mayor at at-large seats for an extra 6 months. Help us tell them NO.
What you can do:
1. Contact your councilmen and the mayor's office and tell them NO
2. Speak up at this Monday's city council meeting
3. Attend Monday's city council meeting
We really need people to speak out this Monday, June 28. We need to activate and put the public pressure on our elected officials to keep them from extending their own terms another 6 months. Help us make the statement "Don't Seattle My Charlotte."
To sign up to speak, contact the clerk BY 9AM MONDAY at (704) 336-2248 or visit https://charlottenc.gov/cityclerk/pages/speak.aspx
We are also asking people to attend the council meeting. Even if the public can't attend, we will gather outside the government center beginning at 5pm. We encourage you to bring homemade signs in protest. You can view agenda item #16 yourself at https://charlottenc.legistar.com/Calendar.aspx
UPDATE: The list to speak was shut down at 9am today. However, the clerk's office will allow people to sign up in-person on-site. If you can be there, please make your voice heard! The Charlotte Mecklenburg Government Center is at 600 E. 4th Street and there is free after-hours parking in the deck, accessible from Davidson Street.
