Charlotte Open Air Flea Market to Reopen after Republican Leadership in Finding New Home

Thanks to the leadership of the Charlotte Republican slate, a permanent location for the displaced Eastland vendors has been secured! After 7 months of City Council lip service to the vendors, our slate lived up to our motto of "local issues, local solutions".
The Open-Air Market can now open on Saturday, August 13th, at 9:00am in a long term location at 1720 Galleria Blvd near the Matthews border. The market will be open every Sat and Sun, starting at 9am.
The slate will continue conversations with the displaced vendors to assure that all their needs are met. This space is more than twice the minimum requested area (it’s 11 acres) and has ample paved space for customer parking and also all the vendors. The location is being provided for free by the owner with the hope that stall rental fees can be collected with a mechanism to allow vendors to over time collectively purchase their own space. This will provide a sustainable way for these small businesses to gain stability as they grow. If any vendor in the greater Charlotte area is interested, the cost is $10 per day for a stall, and spots are available first come, first served, starting at 7am the day of the market.
When vendors came back a second time to CLTCC, Councilman Tariq Bokhari pledged to deliver a solution in 6 weeks. Thanks to the generosity and hard work of many, the team delivered an answer in just 3. That's leadership. A huge thank you to Tariq and Charlie Mulligan for their efforts!
