Jeremy Stephenson is a partner with Pope, Aylward, Sweeney and Stephenson LLP.
Jeremy’s primary area of expertise is in providing counseling and litigation services to management clients in employment matters, via corporate direct defense and EPLI panel assignments. He has successfully defended employers against claims of employment discrimination, wrongful termination, breach of contract, and wage and hour cases before North Carolina state and federal courts and administrative agencies. He also litigates in cases pertaining to professional liability, products liability, and other areas of civil liability on both the state and federal level.
He advises employers on the avoidance of employee claims, reviews and drafts employment contracts and policies, and develops and conducts employee training programs. He also has extensive experience providing insurance coverage counseling and litigation services on Employment Practices Liability Insurance (EPLI), Directors and Officers (D & O), General Liability (GL), Errors & Omissions (E & O), and other lines of coverage including declaratory judgment and bad faith litigation, and appeals.
Jeremy regularly publishes law articles and is often a key-note speaker on employment law topics for human resources audiences. He is a past Chairman of the Employment Law Committee of the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys, Past President of the Charlotte Area Society for Human Resource Management, Conference Chairman of the 2015 NCSHRM State Conference, and is NCSHRM Government Affairs Director since 2014. He is also an active pro bono volunteer attorney with the Council for Children’s Rights in Charlotte.
