Lisa Matthews is a New Jersey native who relocated to North Carolina in 2007. She was born into a military family of Puerto Rican and African American descent and became accustomed to living in different states and countries during her childhood. California, Arizona, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, England and Guam were among her favorites.
Lisa has always been interested in her community and has a heartfelt desire to serve her fellow neighbors. She was a Cabarrus County Guardian Ad Litem for 2 years and she currently volunteers at the Mecklenburg County Jail as the Women’s Jail Ministry Coordinator for First Baptist Charlotte. She serves as an Area Coordinator for the Search for Jesus Internet Ministry with Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and serves as a Lunch Buddy at Brookstone Schools in Charlotte.
Although new to the GOP, Lisa has been politically active in the community for many years. She campaigned for Pete Givens during his run for Charlotte City Council (District 2), Dr. Mark Harris’ Congressional race for District 9, and was a speaker on the Women for Mark Harris Bus Tour this past October. She is a member of the Mecklenburg Evening Republican Women. Lisa is passionate about ensuring Mecklenburg County voters relate to the Republican Party by understanding that the party message is a universal one. She understands that as Americans, we share the same values.
Lisa Matthews is a Bible-believing follower of Jesus Christ, married to her wonderful husband David, proud mother of a North Carolina 6th grade teacher and a dog-mom to her sweet Jack Russell.
