A Message from the Chairman: The Race for 2022 Starts NOW.

The Race for 2022 Starts NOW.

Fellow Republicans:

Last Tuesday confirmed what we've been seeing locally - voters are tired of the far left's overtly progressive agenda and failed leadership.

Republicans are energized and ready for the 2022 midterm elections. This is our opportunity to create a supermajority in Raleigh, take back the U.S. House and U.S. Senate (and block the disastrous policies of Biden, Pelosi and Schumer) and make inroads in our local offices.

The redistricting maps have been finalized as of November 9. Our Legislative Action Team has been tracking what is happening locally and will be ramping up very aggressive messaging in 2022.

While the Democrats have already started to sue these new maps, we anticipate candidate filing to still take place from December 6-17. (CMS School Board filing starts at noon on July 25, 2022.) Become familiar with your new districts as there are changes due to the rapid increase in population here, like Mecklenburg County now having 3 Congressional districts.

The MeckGOP is working to be the most transparent county party in the country. As such, if you have thought about running for public office, PLEASE TELL US. We have a robust recruitment committee that is actively talking with potential candidates so that we can fill the maps with great Republican candidates. However, if we don't know about it or there are groups creating slates of candidates, we cannot be on the same page. Our goal is to smartly field a competitive team to allow Republicans to have a choice when it comes to the ballot.

Contact our MeckGOP Recruitment Chair Lee Ann Patton at [email protected] or 704-576-8053 and she will plug you in with our Recruitment Committee.

Thank you to all Republicans that stepped up to run for public office. Special congratulations are in order to the registered Republicans that saw victory on November 2:

  • Cornelius Mayor-Elect Woody Washam
  • Cornelius Town Commissioners-Elect Dave Gilroy, Todd Sansbury, Michael Osborne, Colin J. Furcht and Denis Bilodeau
  • Huntersville Mayor-Elect Melinda Bales
  • Huntersville Town Commissioner Dan Boone and Derek Partee
  • Matthews Mayor-Elect John Higdon
  • Matthews Town Commissioners-Elect Mark Tofano and Conservative Unaffiliated John Urban
  • Mint Hill Mayor-Elect Brad Simmons
  • Mint Hill Town Commissioners-Elect Dale Dalton, Patrick Holton and Tony Long
  • Pineville Mayor-Elect John "Jack" Edwards

Personally, I want to offer special congratulations to my vice chair Dale Dalton. Dale will continue to make an excellent Mayor Pro Tem of Mint Hill (and I'm excited to get my vice chair back!).

In 2022, candidates will be identified as Republicans on the ballot and we will be working hard to elect all of our Republicans in November of next year. From voter guides to talking one-on-one with voters to sending mailers to staffing up our poll observers, it will take 100% participation to flip districts in our home county.

Get involved now so that we can ensure a red wave next year! Make a donationbe a precinct officer, help us go door-to-door or find a way that you can help!

While our districts may look significantly different soon, we are still a united MeckGOP working to provide a conservative voice for voters. Join us on December 6 at our MeckGOP Christmas Party as we celebrate our successes and prepare for a tough battle to regain control of our country.

Get excited for a busy 2022!

Sarah Reidy-Jones
