An Update on Suspension of 2022 Candidate Filing

🚨 An Update on Suspension of 2022 Candidate Filing 🚨

On the evening of Wednesday, December 8, the North Carolina Supreme Court has granted a preliminary injunction and temporary stay on the candidate filings. Furthermore, they directed that the primary elections scheduled for March 8 will be delayed to May 17. The primary elections on May 17 will be for all offices, not just for the races using the disputed maps (U.S. House, N.C. Senate, N.C. House). As the MeckGOP learns more, we will keep your informed. We are also trying to find out if this will affect city of Charlotte elections.

"Wednesday's ruling shows why judicial elections matter. North Carolina is used to out-of-state and out-of-touch attorneys litigating and usurping the powers of our legislators to bend the rules as they see fit," said MeckGOP Chairman Sarah Reidy-Jones. "Democrat activist judges once again have halted the efforts of our democracy in action and we will work diligently to inform voters of their actions. We look forward to a successful repudiation of the liberal play book in November 2022, regardless of the far left's efforts to subvert and move the goalposts at every chance."

It is vital that the MeckGOP field a full ballot of Republican candidates in 2022 to ensure that conservatives, moderates and fed up local residents have a choice.
