Democrats' Filibuster Hypocrisy
Democrats' Filibuster Hypocrisy
- Democrats don't have the votes for their election takeover legislation, so now they're attempting to end the filibuster, something they repeatedly said they opposed. Democrats' efforts to eliminate the filibuster have nothing to do with "voting rights" – it's nothing more than a far-left power grab.
-
Does the leading Democrat US Senate candidate in NC, Cheri Beasley, support ending the filibuster? No one knows for sure because she is in hiding, hoping to coast to her general election without answering any tough questions from the press.
- Judging by the company she keeps, however, you can be confident that, if Beasley were elected to the US Senate, she'd be nothing more than a rubber stamp for Biden and the radical agenda of DC Democrats.
- North Carolinians and America at large cannot afford to let that happen.
-
As Biden's signature "Build Back Broke" legislation sputters in the Senate, far-left Democrats are pivoting to an attempt to upend Senate rules by eliminating the filibuster.
- If they get their way, they will eviscerate election integrity, part of a desperate "attempt to pass literally anything."
- Biden's recent visit to Capitol Hill was a desperate attempt to revive his failed agenda – given Biden's past defense of the filibuster, it also reeks of hypocrisy.
-
For decades, Biden said eliminating the filibuster would have drastic consequences:
- In 2020, Biden said he did not support "abolishing the legislative filibuster " because "it raises problems that are more damaging than the problem that exists."
- In 2019, Biden called ending the filibuster a "very dangerous thing to do."
- In 2005, Biden praised the "chance to filibuster," called the "nuclear option" to weaken the filibuster an "arrogance of power," and said eliminating the filibuster " would undermine the protections of a minority point of view" and have "long term consequences."
-
Kamala Harris also defended the filibuster:
- In 2019, then-Senator Kamala Harris said she had a "practical concern" if the filibuster were not in place.
- In 2017, Harris signed a letter along with 31 other Democrat senators urging the chamber to preserve the 60-vote threshold.
- Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) was an advocate of the filibuster for decades.
- Dozens of Senate Democrats have repeatedly defended the filibuster and demanded that a 60-vote threshold be preserved.
- In 2017, 32 Democrat senators joined a bipartisan letter in urging the chamber to preserve the 60-vote threshold .
- Democrats know their time in power is limited, and they know the American people are rejecting their radical, far-left policies – that's why they're desperately attempting to end the filibuster.
- Americans see through Biden's blatant hypocrisy – but he doesn't seem to care.
