Democrats' Russia Hypocrisy

Democrats' Russia Hypocrisy

  • For years, Democrats and the media breathlessly, and falsely, claimed President Trump and Republicans were weak on Russia – they even claimed the 2016 Trump campaign colluded with Russia.
  • Today, we know the truth: this entire Democrat narrative was a shameful, brazen lie.
    • The Steele dossier, the basis of the FBI's spying on the Trump campaign and the wider Russian collusion narrative, was nothing more than a disinformation scheme funded by Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign.
    • Special counsel John Durham indicted a central source for the dossier on five counts of lying to the FBI. Durham's investigation is ongoing.
  • Unlike Biden, the Trump Administration stood up to Russia. President Trump:
    • Successfully pushed NATO member nations to increase defense spending, to the tune of at least $50 billion;
    • Imposed sanctions on Russia's Nord Stream 2 pipeline, which Biden later waived, empowering Russia to exert increased influence over the EU;
    • Sold lethal military weapons to Ukraine;
    • Achieved domestic U.S. energy independence;
    • Imposed sanctions on Russian entities and individuals previously indicted for their roles in Russian interference in our election.
  • Democrats, not Republicans, are weak on Russia. Biden pledged to stand up to Putin. Instead, he's spent months appeasing him and emboldening Russian aggression.
  • On Biden's watch, Russia is potentially planning a military invasion of Ukraine.
  • Just months ago, Biden handed Putin a massive geopolitical victory by lifting President Trump's sanctions on the Russian Nord Stream 2 Pipeline.
    • The pipeline is a major gift for Putin, with one Biden State official recently saying  energy is "the cash cow that enables" Putin.
    • In 2016, eight EU countries – the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Poland, Slovakia, Romania, and Lithuania – signed a letter objecting to the Nord Stream 2 project.
    • In 2021, the European Parliament voted overwhelmingly – 581 to 50 – to block work on the pipeline.
    • The Ukrainian parliament overwhelmingly backed a resolution calling on U.S. lawmakers to override Biden's decision to waive sanctions.
  • Biden's decision to give Putin the pipeline came just two weeks after the Russian criminal group DarkSide disrupted America's energy supply with a ransomware attack on the Colonial Pipeline.
    • When Biden met with Putin, instead of standing up to this aggression, he instead weakly asked Putin not to attack a list of 16 sectors that Biden says should be "off limits."
  • Biden's policies are fueling Russia's oil industry, with Americans paying on average over $3.30 per gallon at the pump while  Russian exports of oil to the U.S. hit an all-time high earlier this year.
  • When Biden met with Putin earlier this year, Biden secured no victories for America: he failed to secure the release of detained Americans Paul Whelan and Trevor Reed and failed to get Putin to agree to  curtail his military aggression toward Ukraine.
  • After years of gaslighting the American people on the role of Russia in American politics, it's no surprise Democrats are again attempting to hide the truth: Joe Biden is weak on Russia.
