Matthew Ridenhour is a native Charlottean, a graduate of Charlotte Christian School and AIU, pursuing his MBA at Liberty, and is an Eagle Scout. Matthew served for 11 years in the Marine Corps, and his service includes two tours in the Anbar Province of Iraq. He is a risk manager for FIS Global, where he manages a team of risk analysts responsible for providing third-party risk and compliance services for financial institutions. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the May 20th Society, The North Carolina Heroes Fund, and Steele Creek Preparatory Academy.
 
Matthew is running for re-election for Mecklenburg County Commissioner for District 5, and is currently serving as Chair of the Economic Development Committee. “I am seeking re-election, because I believe Mecklenburg County needs a pragmatic, thoughtful voice of the people, as we tackle such issues as park space and greenways, economic development, and code enforcement/permitting”.
 
Matthew has been married for seven years to his wife, Abby, and they have two children, Caroline and Hobson. Because two kids under the age of four wasn’t hectic enough, they also have a Dachshund mix they rescued, and a 12 week old German Shorthaired Pointer.
