RALEIGH, N.C. – The North Carolina Republican Party ("NCGOP") along with the RNC and NRCC filed an amicus brief this week in support of the NC General Assembly in the Moore v. Harper case coming before the Supreme Court of the United States this Fall. Read the full brief here

This case comes before the U.S. Supreme Court on appeal from the Supreme Court of North Carolina, where the majority—composed of four Liberal-Activist Justices—abandoned core constitutional boundaries in order to legislate their preferred political outcome from the bench. The majority substituted their will for that of the General Assembly by ordering the use of a congressional district map drawn by unelected and unaccountable special masters.

"The people of North Carolina elected these Justices to uphold the law, not make the law. I am confident that the United States Supreme Court will follow the Constitution as written and reverse the political decree issued by the Democrats on the Supreme Court of North Carolina," said NCGOP Chairman Michael Whatley.

This case, among many other recent decisions, highlights the need to elect Conservative Judges who will preserve the Constitutional Order and adhere to the Rule of Law. The citizens of North Carolina deserve nothing less. The N.C. Republican Party will continue to work tirelessly to safeguard our courts from partisan judicial activism.
