The January Jobs Report
The January Jobs Report
-
The January jobs report shows Joe Biden and Democrats are squandering the economic recovery they inherited. The report is also evidence Biden lied to Americans when he first came into office – he promised would spur economic growth and "shut down the virus."
- Hundreds of thousands fewer jobs were created in 2021 than what Biden promised.
- The unemployment rate has only increased in two months since the recovery began, both of which were under Biden.
- The unemployment rates for Black men, Hispanic men, and Americans without a high school diploma all increased.
- The number of unemployed Americans increased in January to 6.5 million.
-
Almost two-thirds of small business owners report being negatively impacted by the recent surge in COVID cases.
- For months, Biden ignored the science, pushed mandates, and failed to prepare testing infrastructure.
- There are 2.9 million Americans who lost their job during the pandemic and have yet to get it back.
- Wages aren't keeping up with inflation, with real wages actually falling.
-
Only 1% of Americans view the economy as "excellent" while 75% view the economy as "not so good" or "poor."
- This dismal outlook is no surprise – Americans are facing historically high inflation, decreasing real wages, and a lower standard of living, with no relief in sight.
- December's Consumer Price Index rose by 7% compared to last year – the largest annual increase in nearly 40 years.
- Producer prices have risen 9.7% since last December, the "largest calendar-year increase" on record.
- Today, gas prices hit a 7-year high, and a new high of the Biden administration.
-
Biden's policies are creating a worker shortage at a time when many Americans are desperate to get back to work.
- There are nearly 11 million job openings that businesses are struggling to fill– a near record high – even though there are 6.5 million unemployed Americans trying to find a job.
- 47% of small business owners reported job openings they could not fill – more than double the 48-year historical average.
- Biden paid Americans not to work for months and stifled economic growth.
-
Republican-led states are the states creating jobs and leading the economic recovery.
- Through December, 16 of the top 20 states for jobs recovered since the pandemic began are led by Republican governors.
- 16 of the top 20 states with the lowest unemployment rates are led by Republican governors.
-
Voters are flocking to Republican-led states, with populations growing in red states like Texas and Florida, while the populations of blue states like Illinois and New York are shrinking.
- Eight of the top ten hottest real estate markets are in red states.
-
Red states are also better for business, with Republican states making up nine of the top ten states for the best business tax climate.
- The four states with the worst business tax climate are all run by Democrat governors.
- While Democrats in D.C. and across the nation stifle economic growth with destructive policies, mandates, and lockdowns, Republican states are leading the way.
