The MVPs of COVID Recovery: Republican Legislatures
The MVPs of COVID Recovery: Republican Legislatures
- Democrat-controlled Washington is decimating our national economy.
- Crippling tax hikes, reckless spending, record-high inflation, overreaching lockdowns, defunding law enforcement, blue state bailouts – all are radical policies holding back a much-needed economic recovery.
- Thankfully, Republican legislative majorities in the states are holding the line on fiscal responsibility.
- The Washington Times reported that 18 of the top 20 states for jobs recovery since the pandemic have Republican-controlled legislatures.
- Despite Democrat Gov. Roy Cooper, Republicans in the General Assembly have established a decade-long record of restrained spending, fiscal responsibility, saving and paying down debt, and returning tax money to those who need it.
- When Republicans took the majority in 2011, there was a meager $4 million in the Rainy Day Fund thanks to the Democrats' reckless spending.
- Republicans turned it around, and the Rainy Day Fund totaled $1.2 billion at the onset of COVID-19, equipping the state to weather the storm during the pandemic.
- As the North Carolina House works on finalizing a budget for the 2022 fiscal year, we can expect:
- Tax relief; the standard deduction will be increased to offer more tax relief to low-and middle-income families and the per-child tax deduction will be increased.
- Responsible saving at the state level
- Historic investments in infrastructure
- Expansion of school choice
- North Carolinians can expect to see tangible results from the new Republican-led budget, as it will empower North Carolinians to choose how they spend their money, not the government.
