The Worst Month At The Border In DHS History

• In March, 221,303 illegal immigrants were apprehended at the southern border, the highest number of monthly illegal border crossings in DHS history.
  • Under Biden's watch, fiscal year 2022 is on pace to be the single worst year since Border Patrol began keeping track in 1924.
  • March's figure is a 331% increase over the average number of March encounters under the Trump administration.
  • There have already been more encounters at the southwest border in 14 months under Biden than there were in 4 years under President Trump.
  • Over 80,000 illegal immigrants were released into the U.S. last month. During President Trump's last full month in office, there were only 17.
• When counting encounters and "gotaways," there have now been more than 3.1 million illegal immigrant crossings since Biden took office – larger than the population of 18 states and the city of Chicago.
  • This figure includes over 2,499,000 illegal immigrant encounters and over 600,000 "gotaways" who have crossed the border and escaped into the country.
• Joe Biden's open border is a humanitarian and national security crisis – it's empowering drug and human traffickers, putting American families at risk, and making American communities less safe.
  • 14,167 unaccompanied children were apprehended at the border in March. 
  • 88,110 illegal immigrants were apprehended from countries outside the Northern Triangle, showing that Biden's crisis has gone global.
  • Illicit drugs are flowing into the country at an alarming rate, with 1,024 pounds of deadly fentanyl and 9,583 pounds of methamphetamine seized at the southern border in March alone.
    • Annual drug overdose deaths recently reached yet another record high, with two-thirds of these deaths linked to fentanyl and other synthetic opioids.
• Biden's border crisis may get even worse: border officials are bracing for as many as 18,000 illegal immigrants per day at the border this spring.
